You'll make about 300-400k in about 45 minutes if not less, if you only catch the rare beetles.
That way, you can buy 1400 turnips at once (14 stacks). Take 2 sacks with you when you go to find Joan. A good tip for buying a lot of turnips at once from Joan is to take about 1.5m bells, drop them at the train station. Just buy turnips on your non-main character, put them in your locker, and repeat until A, B, and C are full, then sell them in the other town's retail at the higher price. I made like 10 million in just an hour and a half. I was buying them for 94 and selling for 330, which is a ~350% increase in profit.
Or: If you have a high turnip price in your main town, get on your non-main town, set it to Sunday at 6am, buy turnips, go sell them for the profit. An entire locker full of fruit is about 3.5 million bells and takes about 1 and a half hours to pick (in my experience). One really good way to make bells if you have a 2nd 3DS (or 2DS or w/e) and a 2nd copy of ACNL, plant a TON of perfect fruit trees in the town(not your main town), 1 space apart (tree, hole, tree) and then harvest them.
